Hotel Features.
Located on a deer stud and olive farm, the Hapuku Lodge is comprised of separate, two- story buildings featuring concrete and wood exteriors. The effect is a casual yet urbane atmosphere, where guests can dine on Hapuku steaks and New Zealand mussels and also enjoy nature walks and tours of the olive press and deer farm. Personal touches are a highlight at the lodge. In the morning, the owner personally prepares a complimentary breakfast, while Colfax, the owner's dog, serves as the property's unofficial mascot, regularly showing guests the way to the beach. Public areas boast New Zealand walnut accents and large, stone fireplaces. Additional complimentary amenities include airport transportation, newspapers and high-speed Internet access. The Hapuku Lodge is a smoke-free property.
Guestrooms.
The seven guestrooms at the Hapuku Lodge are traditionally designed and offer modern amenities such as European tilt-swing windows, flat- screen televisions and DVD players. Walnut furnishings, down comforters and heated tiles in the bathrooms lend the rooms a luxurious touch.
Expert Tip. The on-site Hapuku Café specializes in local seafood, venison and vegetarian dishes. In a 2004 barista competition, the eatery was awarded the "Best Cappuccino" award, and the cafe offers the widest selection of South Island brewed beers in the world.
