- The Kurumba Maldives is a modern resort with private beaches, situated on a 48-acre circular island one kilometre from the crystal waters of the Azure lagoon, which is protected by breakwaters of weathered coral. The resort has 180 air-conditioned guestrooms and villas, and all have Maldivian style decor with polished wood floors, high timber-clad ceilings and antique style wooden furniture. Modern amenities include satellite television, minibars, climate control, coffee and tea making facilities, desks, direct-dial phones, safes and Internet connections. Bathrooms have telephones and bathrobes.
The hotel features a Spa set in picturesque natural surroundings, with a stone pathway surrounded by water leading to the treatment rooms. After a relaxing massage guests can take a yoga class in the Yoga Pavilion or enjoy a leisurely afternoon by the meandering, free- forming swimming pool. The sports centre offers a gymnasium, sauna, jetted tub and table-tennis facilities, and three floodlit tennis courts are available. Guests can also have fun at the dive school or catamaran and wind surf school, which offers parasailing with platform boat, waterskiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, banana rodeo, fun tubes and sailing safaris. The resort has numerous bars and restaurants, including the Kurumba Mahal serving dishes from the royal kitchens of North India in ornate Indian surroundings, and the Beach Bar, with an over water deck and wooden dance floor, which boasts a rich selection of French, Italian and new world wines. Visitors can take an excursion on the traditional Dhoni boat to the uninhabited island of Kuda Bandos, six kilometres away, and sunset Dhoni cruises are also on offer. Male International Airport is three kilometres from the resort with an approximate travel time of 10 minutes.
Mandatory transfers. As the hotel is located on a different island to the airport, guests must organise a transfer from Male International Airport to the property. To do this, you will need to contact the property directly with your flight details at least 48 hours before travel. Driving Directions
Getting there. The best way to get from the airport to the hotel is by speedboat transfer. Return tickets cost 25 USD per child and 50 USD per adult (prices subject to change). Guests must contact the hotel with their flight details at least 48 hours prior to travel.
