- Accessible by seaplane, the Vakarufalhi Island Resort occupies a tiny tropical island, only 250 metres from coast to coast, set in a shallow blue lagoon. Hidden among the palm trees and lush vegetation, the 50 thatch-roofed bungalows are simply decorated with tiled floors, tropical-patterned drapery and small Maldivian details, and open on to private furnished verandas with views of the lagoon. All comprise bedrooms, sitting rooms and semi open-air bathrooms with gardens, and include minibars, IDD telephones, CD players and dial-up Internet connections.
Dominated as it is by the lagoon and surrounding ocean, the resort offers numerous opportunities for water sports. The scuba centre offers guided diving and snorkelling boat trips, equipment and accessory sales and a complete PADI instructional programme. The windsurfing and sailing centre offers instruction and rental services, including the use of catamarans and kayaks. Further aquatic activities include island- hopping excursions incorporating sightseeing trips to a local village, deep-sea fishing trips and sunset cruises. Sun-worshippers can spend the day on the beach's white sands, with complimentary use of chaise longues and beach towels. The Ilaa Restaurant serves 'all you can eat' buffets, set menus and once-weekly barbecues, while the al fresco Ilaa Bar, overlooking the lagoon, serves various beverages and a selection of snacks. The spa offers a range of massage and beauty treatments, and guests can enjoy an evening entertainment programme consisting of dance shows, movies and crab races. More conventional sports are shown on satellite TV in the lounge. Active guests can play beach volleyball, badminton, table tennis, darts and football, with the latter given an extra competitive edge in matches that pit guests against a staff team. The reception area also houses a gift shop, jewellery store, Internet cafe and a library. Malé Hulhule Airport is 90 kilometres away, with an approximate seaplane and dhoni boat transfer time of 35 minutes.

Driving Directions
- Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) provide seaplane transfers to/from TMA Terminal at the Hulhule International Airport to coincide with the arrival/departure of international flights. The seaplane transfer time from the TMA Terminal to Vakarufalhi Island Resort is about 25 minutes. Typically, upon arrival in the Maldives, after clearing Immigration and Customs formalities, a guest would be transferred from the International Arrival Terminal to the TMA Terminal, about a 25-minute shuttle-bus ride, and wait no longer than about one hour at the TMA Terminal Departure Lounge before a scheduled seaplane transfer would depart for Vakarufalhi Island Resort. In rare instances, such as if an international flight arrival is delayed or a baggage claim form must be completed, then the maximum time for such a wait would usually be about 2 hours. Seaplane transfers are provided only during daylight hours, between about 6 AM and 6 PM. Guests arriving on an international flight from which it is not possible to connect with the last seaplane departure from the TMA Terminal will be transferred by speedboat, or may choose to stay overnight at the Hulhule Airport Hotel, or at a hotel in Male, or remain at the airport. Such matters are handled by the guest's local ground handling agent. In rare instances, due to circumstances outside the control of Vakarufalhi Island Resort and/or TMA, such as unfavourable weather conditions, the seaplane departure may be scheduled to depart earlier than usual from Vakarufalhi Island Resort to the TMA Terminal; or later than usual from the TMA Terminal to Vakarufalhi Island Resort, in which case, Vakarufalhi Island Resort nor TMA assumes any liability for any related expenses of the guests.
