Getting there.
The airport's train station is located between the two terminals on the basement level. The S8 and S1 S-Bahn trains leave every 20 minutes for Munich's main train station (Hauptbahnhof). Journey time is about 45 minutes, and single tickets cost 8.80 EUR. Tickets must be validated prior to travelling. The Lufthansa Airport bus runs to the Hauptbahnhof every 20 minutes, and the single fare is 9.50 EUR. Taxis to the city centre cost around 55-65 EUR. Local trains run from Munich train station to Bad Tolz, which is three kilometres from the hotel. Taxis and buses run from Bad Tolz station to the hotel. A taxi from Munich Airport to the hotel costs 130 EUR. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around.
Bad Tolz is a small town on a hill, so while walking can be quite up and down, if you have the energy it is negotiable on foot. Buses and taxis are another way to get around. Much of Munich's city centre is pedestrianised and best explored on foot. The city's integrated public transport system includes buses, trams, S-Bahn commuter trains, and U-Bahn underground trains. Tickets cover all modes of public transport. Taxis wait at ranks around the city, but can be expensive. Trains run from the Hauptbahnhof to other German towns and the Bavarian countryside.
Driving directions. From Munich Airport take the autobahn Munich-Salzburg in the direction of Salzburg. Take the exit Holzkirchen and follow the signs to Bad Tolz along the B13. In Bad Tolz take the exit Bad Tolz west and go straight. Turn left before the petrol station and then left into the next street. The hotel is on this road close to the Kurpark.
