- The Hotel de la Plage is a modern whitewashed hotel with green shuttered windows, located 50 metres from the beach on the Ile de Ré, a small island off La Rochelle on the west coast of France. The 27 guestrooms reflect the style of the island, featuring simple Mediterranean-style décor in white and yellow with light wood furnishings. All rooms come equipped with kitchenettes, air conditioning, telephones and televisions. The hotel has a heated outdoor swimming pool, where guests can enjoy a dip or simply relax on the terrace. Multilingual staff can advise on the area's best attractions, and there is parking on site. The beach, facing onto the Atlantic, offers sports including water skiing and windsurfing. A very flat island, the Ile de Ré is also well served by bicycle routes, a great way to visit surrounding port villages such as St Martin-de-Ré, eight kilometres from the hotel and Ars-en-Ré, 10 kilometres away. For a little more hustle and bustle, guests can cross the toll bridge to the mainland to visit the harbour town of La Rochelle, 25 kilometres away. La Rochelle Airport is 22 kilometres from the hotel.
Driving Directions
- There is a bus service to the centre of La Rochelle, from where guests can take another bus to the island. Alternatively, taxis are available outside the terminal. Driving directions: From the airport, take the N11, and follow across the toll bridge (price between 9-20 Euros) to Ile de Ré. From here, follow signs for Couarde sur Mer.
